For several decades after Jesus's death and resurrection, Peter told others about all of the firsthand experiences he had with Jesus. Later in life, possibly in prison and not sure of his future, Peter wanted to ensure all of those stories got documented. So he asked his traveling companion, Mark, to write down not what he had heard or read—but what he had seen.

When someone overreacts, we often say, “Don’t take it personally.” One of the most incredible yet overlooked aspects of faith is the personal nature of it. When we experience faith in a personal way, we see what following Jesus is all about. And if we miss this, we miss out on the fullness of life that Jesus came to offer each one of us…personally.
