Mile Marker 12
A shared experience for 12th graders and their parents
With graduation right around the corner, your senior is wrapping up their high school experience. As your student begins this transition into their next season, they need to know you see their strengths as well as accomplishments. They need to know you believe in them.
Mile Marker 12 is a prompt to set aside some time with your student to give them a letter of blessing and encouragement and an heirloom that will always remind them of your love and support. This is a meaningful experience that can strengthen your relationship and help them step into this next season with confidence.
Three things you’ll need to do before experiencing Mile Marker 12 with your student:
- Choose an heirloom.
This could be something passed down from a previous generation or something you purchase for this occasion. It just needs to be meaningful. Examples are a compass, a piece of jewelry, a family Bible, etc. - Write a letter.
During the Mile Marker 12 experience, you’ll read a letter to your teenager meant to encourage and affirm who God has made them to be. Download the Parent Guide and template with ideas on how to make your letter meaningful and impactful. - Plan the experience.
Choose a time when you can give your full attention to your student. Take them out or order their favorite dinner, coffee, or dessert, and plan to spend about an hour together. During this time, you’ll read them the letter you wrote and give them the heirloom as a gift to mark this huge milestone in their life.
